Murals

I have a strong desire to see my vision created at a large scale and murals are my way of seeing this accomplished. There is something so rewarding about painting large pieces. I have painted murals on different surfaces and learn something new with each creation. I am in the process of building my portfolio of murals because I love everything about the creation process and wish to do more large scale.

Statement: "I chose to represent farming fields in rows of many colors to represent diversity. The colors I chose are bright and full of life to represent happiness, joy and life. I put a small tracker and barn to show that the city has cultivated this colorful environment. The tree in the center of the mural represents growth and diversity. The fruits, leaves and wood grains of the tree are all different colors so that it isn’t restricted to one crop; it is diverse and bountiful. This mural represents Fife as a historical, farming town, but is also a city of growth and progress. This is a scene that has been present in Fife for many years, but I took a contemporary, progressive representation of the history of Fife.

Statement: "When I think of Bonney Lake, I think of a nice town high on a hill overlooking the valley farmland with an amazing view of Mount Rainier. Every weekend growing up, my family drove up Highway 410 to a cabin we were building. I have many memories driving into Bonney Lake and, if we were lucky, if the clouds gave us a break glorious Mt. Rainier would greet us on our way out of town. This view is one of my favorite views of Mt. Rainier; it is truly magnificent. This image of Mt. Rainier is why it was evident that Mt. Rainier should be part of this mural. I also chose to include a huge sunshine because there is nothing better than seeing the mountain on a sunny day. The mountain has a heart in the center because so many of us cherish our mountain and find it so special. The rolling fields represent the hills around Bonney Lake and I included a few funky trees because they also surround the beautiful area. I find color to be the most important part of each of my paintings because it sets tone and the overall mood. For this project, I chose to use very vibrant and bold colors to represent happiness, joy and life. This pallet will bring energy and life to the area year round.
